Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Conduct competitive analyses of other websites that operate in the same space. Preferably with a background of subscription and search based products
  • Prepare customer analyses (consumer and trade) based on our target demographic and how they use the Checkatrade.com site, and report back/make recommendations
  • Participate in creating the UX development strategy for the Checkatrade.com website as well as our customer/trade facing services, such as the Members Area
  • Deep knowledge of designing intuitive UX/UI’s with a Mobile-First, scaling to web, approach to maximise user engagement. Coordinate with other design team members on issues like navigation, page routing, product page design, etc
  • Track usability goals and prepare reports for senior management
  • Work with our key stakeholders and relevant Product Managers to develop initial visualisations and/or wireframes to bring to life our product vision thereby assisting with business cases, subsequent prioritisation and roadmap creation
  • Ability to continuously iterate those visualisations to support our requirements for the development team to build the new features and functionalities
  • Conduct usability tests on key pages/features using various techniques (mostly AB tests) on the website and create reports and recommendations showcasing your findings

Key Requirements/skills

  • Educated to Degree Standard in Computer Design, Development or Engineering required
  • Superior knowledge of all Adobe products, including InDesign and Illustrator (or equivalents/alternatives, such as InVision). Previous experience of using Balsamiq to create wire-frames would be advantageous
  • Excellent PC skills required
  • Excellent communication skills required – the ability to sell your concepts to senior stakeholders
  • Experience preparing detailed competitive and consumer analyses
