We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and innovative Digital Designer to join our growing IT team at Checkatrade. As the ideal candidate you will come from an online design environment having produced a broad range of online material (web sites, intranet sites, display banners, email campaigns and applications). You will have relevant commercial experience using Agile methodology and embody the skills outlined below. You will be happy to work as part of a team and thrive under pressure. Excellent communication skills are essential.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To deliver creative solutions by working collaboratively with relevant stakeholders to establish their respective needs: translate for development front and/or back teams
  • To demonstrate strong online design skills, keen attention to detail and eye catching designs which support offsite activity to drive traffic (e.g. emails) and onsite optimisation to improve conversion
  • To competently interpret designs into development across all devices showing extensive knowledge of HTML5/CSS
  • To liaise with the development team to prioritise and secure resource to deliver CSS/CMS enhancements or bug fixes to support the management of the websites
  • To ensure usability, adherence to SEO and accessibility standards and general digital effective practice, including:
    • digital prototyping (banners, landing pages etc.)
    • sit, page and form application design
    • asset design, creation or sourcing (copy, photography, istock imager, graphics etc.)
    • marketing campaign assets design and creation
  • To deliver designs for digital Customer experiences, in a collaborative and iterative manner (Agile methodology)
  • To produce clear and effective written work

The successful Digital Designer will be required to demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

  • Strong online creative and design skills / responsive design / hand coding HTML / CSS with knowledge of JavaScript / jQuery
  • Extensive experience in site audits for accessibility and usability and designing for e-commerce sites
  • Understanding and appreciation of key regulatory requirements including W3C (accessibility)
  • Competent in all industry standard design applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver
  • Strong technical skills to translate marketing projects into technical development specifications
  • Understanding of mobile / tablet user journeys and applications
